Now that I'm in this spot that I'm in, music continues to be a huge comfort. I sleep with music going on my phone, I soak up each and every lyric sung. I imagine how each song applies to me or my life. I try to find strength in the words and sometimes I give in and let myself tear up. That's music's job. To fill us with emotion and express those feelings in creative, thoughtful ways.
Lately I am even more caught up in the lyrics, melodies and feelings that music offers. I find myself focusing and hanging on each word..wondering what the musician meant, what it means to me and what I love about what I'm hearing.
Here are some of the lyrics and songs that I'm stuck on. Things that make me think, have made me think or keep me going in some way.
{Say Something}
A Great Big World
But you are not alone in this
And you are not alone in this
As brothers we will stand, and we will hold your hand
Hold your hand
{Timshel, Mumford and Sons}
And there will come a time, you'll see, with no more tears.
And love will not break your heart, but dismiss your fears.
Get over your hill and see what you find there,
with grace in your heart and flowers in your hair.
{After the Storm, Mumford and Sons}
{Here Comes the Sun, As my Guitar Gently Weeps}
The Beatles
{Timber}
Pitbull feat. Ke$ha
(everyone needs a fun upbeat party song!)
(everyone needs a fun upbeat party song!)
{Some Devil}
Dave Matthews Band
Say what you wanna say
and let the words fall out.
Honestly, I wanna see you be brave
with what you want to say.
And let the words fall out
Honestly, I wanna see you be brave.
{Brave, Sara Bareilles}
{I would be Sad}
The Avett Brothers
Ok...so I was working on this all morning between calls for work and then got the most important call...my little buddy is sick. He's napping now, after he was rocked to sleep by momma. A special gift I had no idea was going to be offered to me today. So I'm going to hit publish now and let this one go for the day. Otherwise it may sit here unfinished too long.
Thanks for taking a minute to hear a little about the sound of my music.
Love to you all.
Very nice Pegs. But, no mention of the college and post college country music?!?!
ReplyDelete"I Will", The Beatles
ReplyDeleteAh, Some Devil. Good one. Interesting that he swaps angel for devil towards the end. Hope?
ReplyDeleteMusic has always been a part of my adult life, and has helped in many situations. The artists and songs were quite different, but so much the same!!
ReplyDeleteAlways be open to a variety of music venues. :)
I said to RR the same day you posted this but before I read this that Say Something makes me think of you every time I hear it. Music is so healing to me as well. How about "Here comes the sun little darling"? Love that cute little song.
