Arkansas, USA

Right now I'm sitting in an office that isn't mine, in a building of a company I don't work for.  And I'm getting paid to sit here and write this blog post.  It's been a slow day, and instead of just sitting here and twiddling my thumbs, I'm putting words down on paper.

Today I woke up in a funk.  But the last two days have been generally great.  Why does that have to happen?  Then it got worse.  Connor is having a rough day at school.  I got an email from the teacher.  His daddy will have to take care of it for now, but it makes me sad.  Going full time has been hard on his three year old soul.  He wasn't ready.  He was thrown in without warning.  No goodbye to our two days a week together alone.  But we'll get it figured out.  We will.  I'm trying so hard to have faith on this one.  Erin tells me, as a friend and a teacher, that I'm doing the right stuff.  Raina offered to look up books to get from the library about being a good friend and good listening.

And then I texted back and forth with a friend needing love and prayers.  But I have faith.  And she has strength and faith on her side.  And so much love and thought.

But then a few good things happened.  Cara found me a ticket in the pit (closest seats) for Dave this summer.  I'm endlessly grateful.  Dave is one of my favorite bands.  Of all time.  Dave always has something good for me to hear.  He's part of me healing.  I heart Dave Matthews.

And someone told me I was an all star.

And my lunch was amazing.

And I got an email that said this as the first line:

Hi Team,
I wanted to first say Kudos to Margaret for having an engagement rate of 69% this past week---great job!!

Kudos to me.  Me.

I miss my babies.  But I have gotten calls twice a day since I've been gone, which I'm ever grateful for.  The kids and the dog seem happy.  And that's always my main focus..that they are loved, happy and healthy.  I'd be lying if I told you that I wasn't counting down the time until they're in my arms again, though.  I sincerely can hardly wait.

Tonight when I'm done working for the day, I'll go back to the hotel and run.  The treadmill is ok.  Earlier this week I ran a 5k and was sooo exhausted.  I don't know why, but bad treadmills aren't as easy to run on.  And since I'm not from this area, and there are no sidewalks, and I insist on running with earphones blasting in my ears...I'm not braving a run outside..even though the 52 degree weather makes me want to.

Then after my run I'll make work calls.  I have about a million calls to make and need to try to stay caught up.  Why not?  I haven't anything else to do in this small town.  And I have a quart of strawberries waiting for me in my hotel fridge.  I'm a good little dietitian..I get to the grocery store when I travel to ensure I'm not eating each and every meal out.

Keep backing me up, folks.  Keep holding my heart for me.  Say prayers.  Listen to me when I'm losing my mind.  And remind me that you're there.

Thanks for everything..I'll never begin to repay you all like I want to, I'm sure.

  1. You have two of my best mood lifters in this post - a great meal and praise for hard work. I'm glad you were able to turn things around, always hard when you start in a funk. Hope you are having some soul replenishing time for yourself in that quiet town.
